Wilson Allen Anderson, 88, died peacefully on Friday, May 30, 2014. Wilson was born in Jasper on March 14, 1926, to the late Bird Wilson Anderson and Charles Allen Anderson. He was preceded in death by his brothr, Jesse Carl Anderson and sister, Sue Anderson Banks.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Betrice Huffstutler Anderson; and his children, Patricia Anderson (Pat) Mathis, Evelyn Anderson Paterson (Charles) of Birmingham and Charles Allen Anderson (Katherine) of Somerset, Ky.; grandchildren, Vernon Anderson (Andy) Mathis (Julie), Rebecca Paterson Simon of Birmingham and Wilson Allen Anderson II (Gayla) of Lexington, Ky.; and great-grandchildren Max and Miller Simon and Jack and Charlie Mathis.

Wilson was a long time member of First Baptist Church. He loved hunting and skeet shooting and took great pride in growing prize worthy tomatoes and roses with his wife.

At 16 he served as a Page at the U.S. Capital and served in the Navy during World War II. Thereafter, he worked with NASA until his retirement at Marshall Space Flight Center. While at NASA, he worked on the Apollo Mission and space shuttle programs.

Graveside services for the immediate family will be today, June 1, 2014, at 2 p.m. in Jasper.
