Dorothy Jane 'Dottie' Burns Reeves

Mrs. Dottie Reeves, age 75, of Decatur died Friday, May 14, 2010, at 8:45 a.m. at Decatur General Hospital. Funeral service will be Sunday, May 16, 2010, with visitation from 2 to 3 p.m. and service at 3 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jackie Kay from Central Park Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Reeves. They were married May 21, 1955, and have one daughter, Kim Wallace and her husband, Bryan. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Kathleen Long of Battle Creek, Mich., and Mrs. Lorene Miller of Camden, Tenn.
Dottie's hometown was Decatur and she graduated from Danville High School. She was a licensed practical nurse. Dottie and Billy Reeves have been active in the building industry for more than 30 years, and expanded the family business of building custom and spec homes and town homes to a licensed real estate broker and a certified state appraiser. Mrs. Dottie Reeves retired in 1997. She was a member of Central Park Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Brothers, James Whitmire, Elliott J. Wallace, Darren Osborn, Daryl Osborn, Windell Shelton and Ralph Burns, all of Decatur.
Life's happiness is to know we are loved. Mother, you were my hero. You were selfless, spirited and very focused on your inner journey which we know endured to the end of your earthly life. We also know with all certainty that you are saved by grace and safe in the arms of God.
