Funeral for Brenda Sparkman Goodlett, 68, of Decatur will be today, October 5, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Chapel with the Rev. Carl Maynard and the Rev. Wendell Prince officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Goodlett, who died Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born May 1, 1944, in Morgan County to Harold and Reba Sparkman. She was a member of Oak Park Church of God. While traveling in Asia and Thailand during the Vietnam War, she attended the University of Maryland in Thailand and worked for the Department of Defense. She worked in the corporate office of Cook's Pest Control as executive assistant to Mr. and Mrs. John Cook for the past 17 years.

Survivors include one son, George Andy Goodlett; one sister, Gina Sparkman Parks and husband, William; two nieces, Carey Sutton and husband, Mike, and Jennifer Lane and husband, Brian; great-niece and nephews, Madeline Kate, William and Matthew.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Brazelton, Larry Martin, Darryl McMillian, William Parks, Wayne Crouch and Danny Beggs.

The family of Mrs. Goodlett would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Scott Matthew for his excellent medical care, and also his exceptional spiritual guidance and to all the nurses on the 3rd floor at Decatur Morgan Hospital.
