Carrie Boyles Shutt left this life to meet her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 4, 2013. A funeral service will be held Friday, September 6, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Moulton Baptist Church with Parkway Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the church. Darryl Wood and Jessie Reeder will officiate the service. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Shutt was born on April 26, 1924, to William Thomas Burden and Ida Canup Burden in Lawrence County. As a member of Moulton Baptist Church, she sang in the choir for years and was actively involved in many other church activities. Mrs. Shutt worked as an inspector at the Lawrence County Co-op in Moulton for 24 years before she retired. She was involved with the American Legion Auxiliary, selling poppies and supporting veterans. She loved to travel, especially during the fall as the leaves changed colors. She cared deeply for all of her nieces and nephews, her many dear friends, for her Sunday school class, and she lived for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Herschel, her husband of 56 years; one son, Joel Malcolm Boyles; two brothers, Londery Lee Burden and Cortez Burden; four sisters, Almeda Smith, Christine Thorstensen, Minnie Lee Terry and Jean Sherrill.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Shutt; sons, Edwin Boyles and wife, Sandy, of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Phillip Boyles and wife, Teresa, of Moulton; grandsons, Drew Boyles and wife, Caragh, of Starkville, Miss., Will Boyles of Chattanooga, Tenn., Jared Boyles and wife, Keli, of Moulton and Ryan Boyles of Moulton; stepsons, Richard Shutt and wife, Patricia, of St. Charles, Mo., David Glenn Shutt and wife, Michelle, of Holly Pond, Barry Shutt of Salt Lake City, Utah, Darryl Shutt of Mobile and Paul Shutt and wife, Jenny, of Hartselle; stepdaughter, Charlotte Shutt of Payson, Ariz.; brother, Leon Burden of Moulton; six stepgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Drew Boyles, Will Boyles, Jared Boyles, Ryan Boyles, Paul Shutt, Tom Burden, Barbara Abraham and Mike Hill. Honorary pallbearers will be Darry Shutt, Jackie Sherrill and Grace Sunday school class.
