Janet C. Egan
Janet, age 71 of Wilmington, DE, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, January 7, 2013.
Janet was born in Wilmington on November 19, 1941 and she graduated from P.S. duPont High School in 1959. Janet enjoyed bowling, watching old movies, reading and volunteering for many republican candidates. She also worked as a title clerk for several local car dealerships and as a unit clerk for the Wilmington Division of the Medical Center of Delaware. Her proudest moments were spent as devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Janet is survived by her husband of 50 years, William Egan, her son Sean (Pamela) of Claymont; her daughter Sheila Harlam of Wilmington and her mother Dorothy E. Jensen of Wilmington. Janet was predeceased by her father, Mertin Steele and her beloved grandparents John W. and Beulah Thomas. Janet also leaves behind 2 brothers, John C. and Thomas W. Jensen and 3 sisters, Brenda Martinek, Cindy Smuzynski and Joyce Baily-Clauson. Janet will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Tara, Timothy and Victoria Harlam.
The family would like to extend their gratitude for the care Janet received by the staff at Vitas Hospice.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 12, at 10:30 am, at the MCCRERY & HARRA FUNERAL HOMES, 3924 Concord Pk, Wilmington, DE where friends may call after 9:30 am. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Vitas Hospice, 100 Commerce Dr., Suite 302, Newark, DE 19713 or Delaware Humane Society, 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
