Johnnie Davis Obituary

Johnnie (William J.) Davis, Jr.

On July 26, 2013 Johnnie went to be with Jesus. He served the Lord faithfully in the Nursing Home Ministry.

He was born in Millsboro, DE on Feb. 20, 1927 to the late William J., Sr. and Charlottie Rust Davis. He graduated from Theological College with a doctorate in 1996, and operated his own electrical and plumbing business for 50 years until 2000. He was a volunteer fireman for 63 years in the Millsboro Volunteer Fire Company. He also was one of the first ambulance crewmen when the Millsboro VFW began ambulance service in 1949. Johnnie loved his animals, and he loved scrapple sandwiches.

He was a life member, and past Commander of VFW post 7422, and also was a member of the Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship International.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his first wife, Mary Johnson Davis in 1982, and a brother, Charles E. Davis. Johnnie leaves behind his beloved wife, Kitty Davis, and a son, William H. Davis, and his wife Jill; and two grandchildren: Edie Davis, and Mary Davis.

Friends may call for a viewing and time of visitation at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE on Friday evening, August 2, 2013 from 5 PM until 7 PM. A funeral service and Celebration of His Life will be held at the Millsboro Civic Center, 322 Wilson Hwy on Saturday, August 3, at 12 Noon. Friends may call two hours prior for viewing and visitation. Pastor Leroy Weymouth will officiate. Interment follows in Millsboro Cemetery with full Fire Department honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Selbyville Assembly of God; 36360 Pepper Road, Selbyville, DE 19975.
