Mary Alsip Obituary

Mary Ellen Alsip

AGE: 77 • Seaford

Mary Ellen Alsip, 77, of Seaford, DE., passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014.

Mary was a passionate gardener who suffered from CHAD, Compulsive Horticultural Acquisition Disorder. She loved visiting nurseries where her eyes lit up with hearts when buying any of the latest plants without the vaguest clue as where to plant them. She felt any empty spot needed to be filled, resulting in lawn creep. She also delighted in buying dead plants to revive.

She was a true luddite whose dream was a comeback of VCR's and princess phones. She marveled at her collection of VHS tapes and was not happy with the introduction of DVD players. Mary had a special compassion for catching a single fish she named Walter that came back to the dock every spring to be caught solely by her hook. But most importantly, she was an independent, hard working woman who loved her family fiercely.

Mary's family would like to thank Dr. Robert Wilson and the staff at Delaware Hospice for their compassionate care. All services are private. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.strano-feeley.com
