Marla Walsh Obituary

Marla Jayne Walsh

Age 46, passed away suddenly on September 12, 2013.

A graduate of Haverford High School, Marla was the most caring and giving person you ever met. She would do anything for you and everyone loved her. Marla was strong yet modest and lived her whole life by the motto, "never give up."

Her husband and daughter were her best friends. Marla loved being a "Cheer Mom" more than anything and supported her daughter in all of her cheerleading endeavors. She was a scrapbooking queen, who loved to cherish memories.

Predeceased by her father Louis, mother Janet and sister Cathy Jo, Marla is survived by her husband, Bill, daughter Devon and brother, Craig Simon (Susan) as well as many family and friends.

Funeral services will be 12:00 noon, Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Schoenberg Memorial Chapel, 519 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE 19809. Shiva will be 7:00 pm Sunday and Monday evenings at the late residence and 7:00 pm Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Craig Simon.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, 1600 Rockland Road, Wilmington, DE 19803.

I am so sorry to hear about Marla's passing. I am not active on any social media sights so I just learned the very sad news. Marla and I went to Jr and Sr High School together. Last time I saw her was at our 20th HS Reunion. We caught up a bit there and often since then, I have thought about trying to reconnect with her as we had such a good time that night. Sadly, we never did. I will keep Marla and her family in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless!

Bill and Devon -
I only got to know Marla over the past year through our mutual friends. I immediately felt a kinship and friendship with Marla after only knowing her a short time. She was such a light of sunshine! Friendly, beautiful and full of life. Her LOVE for the two of you was SO evident!!I still feel her loss and think of her often and know that the two of you will carry her light with you ALWAYS. Please know how much she meant to me in such a short time and my love goes out to the two of you.

Dear Bill,
I was honored to work with Marla for several years at AZ. She was so excited when you bought your beautiful house. But she found out she was pregnant there could not have been a happier person. Marla was so proud of you and your career.
Even though Marla had a difficult pregnancy she never let it get her down.
I am so sorry that you and Devon have lost such a beautiful person and a loving wife and mother.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Bill and Devon,
I am so sorry for your loss and pain you may be going through at this time. For almost 6 years Marla and I ate lunch together at AZ. Somehow or someway one of us was always at the others desk. We were paired up to be each others back ups at AZ. And our friendship just took off from there.
She was with me through the years of my then 16 year old daughter. And I always teased her I would track her down when Devon was 16 to see if she was going through the same situations.
I loved her scrapbooking and was always jealus I was not crafty. She was proud of me the first time I had to put together a crafty item just earlier this year. I also remember all typing out all of the "Devonisms" as she called them. I believe she added to a page in one of her many scrapbooks. I am so sad that she is gone and just want to pick up my phone and text her. She was loved and adored my many. Just know that you have many of Marla's friends to help you get through this difficult time.

Bill and Devon,
I am so sorry for your loss. My daughters (Kim and Kayla) cheered with Devon and Marla was the best cheer mom. Since that season, I have modeled my "team mom" duties after Marla's example. I will continue to pray for you, Devon and your family.

Dear Bill,
My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. I knew Marla well in high school and she was a wonderful friend. She always had a bright smile and was full of fun and adventure. Many years later I connected with her at AZ. We worked together there for a brief time. She was so happy with her life and would share stories of Devon. Simply said she was a beautiful person.

Bill and Devon,
I worked with Marla at AZ. We laughed together(a lot) and cried together ( she came and sat with me the day after my daughter died). She would always tell me something funny that Devon had said and they became known as "Devonisms".
You are both in my thoughts and prayers and I know she is watching over you. She will truly be missed.

Dear Craig and Family - sympathies to you from your long lost cousins Dana and Lisa. I reached-out via Facrebook to both you and Marla in the last few months, without getting a response. I thought that perhaps life in general was very hectic and that soon again I would try to contact you. But now as I reach out to you tonight it is with a heavy heart for your unimaginable loss. We will always keep the Simon family in our thoughts and prayers.

I am very sorry for your loss. I used to live down the street from you and enjoyed every encounter I had with Marla. She was so funny and candid and truly interested in the lives of her friends. I had the opportunity to catch up with her a few weeks ago. We talked about our lives and our kids and how happy she was to be a very busy mom. She was so happy I was doing well. We were supposed to catch up for a coffee date. Never did I think that wouldn't happen.

My heart breaks for your family. God Bless you all and her soul. May you find comfort, peace and strength at this time. RIP, Marla <3
