Cecelia F. Elmer AGE: 99 • Wilmington Age 99, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Manor Care in Pike Creek. Born in Old Lyme, CT, Cecelia was the daughter of the late Frank H. and Cecelia (Soukup) Fischer. She graduated 1935 at the top of her class at the old Wilmington High School and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Her husband of 66 years, Alois "Louie" Stocek Elmer, predeceased her in 2005. She is survived by her sons, Lon and Loren Elmer and her nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, make a friend of someone you do not like. English III, Robert H.  
Robert H. English, III AGE: 65 • Smyrna Robert H. English, III, age 65, of Smyrna, Delaware, went to be with the Lord on June 24, 2016. Bob was born in Charleston, West Virginia on July 17, 1950 and grew up in South Charleston. In 1976 he moved to Newark, Delaware and later to Smyrna. A graduate of Virginia Tech, Bob received degrees in accounting and horticulture. He worked for Wilmington Trust Company for 23 years before retiring in 2005. Bob's gift and passion was landscaping. He spent many hours designing and installing beautiful gardens for friends, family and his church. From his childhood at First Presbyterian Church in South Charleston, Bob was devoted to the Lord and to the church. For the last 26 years he was an active member of Grace Church Dover, where he was a deacon. Bob loved his church family and was always ready and eager to serve, whether on a budget or planning committee, running the sound system or helping with Vacation Bible School. Over the years Bob enjoyed biking, tennis, basketball and golf. A highlight of his teenage years was playing clarinet in the junior high and high school bands. He enjoyed many vacations to his favorite destinations of Myrtle Beach and Disney World. Bob was a gentle, generous, giving person, who cared for others and never met a stranger. He lived with humility and grace. He was known for his meticulous attention to detail in anything he attempted, usually adding his own special touches. His sense of humor always brought a laugh. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Vivian Snider English and Robert H. English, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Terri; by his son Nathan Hackney, daughter-in-law Stacey, and grandson Jake of Newark; and by his sister Marian English of Richmond, Virginia. The family wishes to thank those who have quietly cared for Bob in his last days, including The Delaware Hospice Center in Milford and caregivers from Nurse Next Door. Visitation will be held 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, with a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m at Grace Church, 350 McKee Road, Dover, Delaware. A reception will follow at the church. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, New Freeport, PA. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Bob's memory to The Michael J. Ellis, John R.  
John R. Ellis AGE: 94 • Wilmington of New Castle, Delaware, passed away peacefully on June 13th, Monday morning at Cadia Nursing Home. Born in Wilmington, Delaware on December 19, 1921, Mr. Ellis was the son of the late John Henry and Sarah Ellis. He bravely served his country as a member of the US Army, during WWII in the European theatre. He graduated from Howard High School of Wilmington in 1939. He loved bowling, and playing baseball as a shortstop. Mr. Ellis served as a deacon at the Community Presbyterian Church, where he was a member for 60 years. In addition to both parents, Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Johnson Ellis, his sisters, Inus May, and Alicia Hopkins, and his brother, Ralph Benson Sr - preceded by his son, Bernard Pearson. He is survived by his children: Patricia Bryant (Wilmington), Joan "Vonnie" Williams (New Castle), Kevin E Ellis (New Castle), and Jackie Brooks (New Castle); Daughter in Law: Brenda Ellis (New Castle), and grandchildren: Tysha Bryant, Charlene Heard, Kevin A Ellis, and great grandson, Nobel Heard. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, June 22nd, 2016 at Community Presbyterian Church 519 Rogers Road, Wilm., Viewing will be from 9:00AM to 11:00AM. Internment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, Delaware 19701
