Georgia was born in Hackensack, NJ on August 14, 1936 and was the first child of Margaret (Peggy) & George Kohler. She grew up in Elmira, NY and Sayre, PA and graduated from Sayre High. She was the first person in her family to graduate from college and received her Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Penn State University. In her professional life, Georgia was a freelance writer and journalist before becoming an Executive Recruiter and Interior Decorator. Anyone who knew her found her to be bright, articulate and a true character. She was a classic beauty both inside and out. Georgia was generous by nature and memorable. Anyone who knew her had a funny Georgia story; she loved to laugh and make people smile and her humor was very similar to Erma Bombeck, Georgia was an avid sailor, reader and scrabble player. She sailed competitively in the Lake Wesauking sailboat races and consistently came in first place. Her sailboat was famous and appropriately named "Oops" because she mistakenly hung the sail upside down and decided to leave it that way. Georgia was happiest spending time with her family and friends. She was the life of the party and was known for her famous potato salad and Oreo crusted ice cream pie. She was well read and had an extensive library until she started reading books via her Kindle. Georgia was a survivor; she beat small cell lung cancer and was a walking miracle who was marveled by any doctor she met. Georgia was preceded in death by her loving parents, George and Margaret Daniel Kohler, her Aunts Bette, Ellie & Mabel and her close friend & avid scrabble player, Marge Uding. She is survived by her dog Joey, her three children Lynn Bryant, Laura Pingatore & her husband Frank, her son Michael and his significant other, Melissa Allen, her three grandchildren, Frank and Chad Pingatore & Michael Ferro plus her sister Jean Rowe & her husband Bob and her brother Dan Kohler & his wife Rebecca Neale and her much-loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A private service will be held in Annapolis, MD on Feb. 13th at St. Mary's Catholic Church with her close family & friends. In lieu of flowers, pay it forward through random acts of kindness in Georgia's honor or contribute to your favorite charity in her memory.
