Audrey E. (Tyson) Kennard Hammerer

Age 86, of Claymont passed away on July 7, 2013 surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Hammerer was a graduate of Eddystone High School in Trainer, PA. She retired from the Edgemoor DuPont Credit Union. She was a life active member of the Claymont Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary for about 58 years. She was also a member of the United Methodist Church of the Atonement. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Hall Burke Post and she was a member of the Boys and Girls Club of Wilmington.

Mrs. Hammerer was preceded in death by William J. Kennard, Sr. and by Vincent J. Hammerer, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Herman Tyson, Sr., and by her siblings, Nina McQuiston and Carol McDaniels. She is survived by her 5 children: Audrey McCullough and her husband John of Wilmington, William J. Kennard, Jr. of Philadelphia, Robert S. Kennard and his wife Karen of Chicago, IL, Donald M. Kennard and his wife Nancy of Wilmington, and Paul D. Kennard and his wife Rosemary of Bear; 1 brother: Herman Tyson, Jr. of New Mexico; 1 sister: Mildred Conner of Kalamazoo, MI; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday morning, July 12, 2013 at the United Methodist Church of the Atonement, 3519 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703. Burial will be in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, King of Prussia, PA. Friends may call at the church on Friday morning from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Claymont Fire Company, 3223 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703 or to the United Methodist Church of the Atonement at the above address.
