Betty S. Brechtel

AGE: 82 • Wilmington, formerly of Lafayette, LA.

Betty S. Brechtel passed away on February 28, 2014 at Seasons Hospice.

Betty had a tremendous gracious heart and generous spirit. She was a homemaker and active member of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church where she has served as an usher, volunteered with the Ronald McDonald House at the Children's Hospital, sent care packages to troops overseas, and driven the elderly wherever they needed to go. Betty was a member of the United Methodist Women. She loved the beach, feeding her backyard birds, and weekly games of dominoes with friends.

Betty is survived by her husband of 62 years Neil P. Brechtel, her children, Michael Brechtel (Teresa), Kathy Decker (Marc), Karen Godfrey (Graham), David Brechtel, Ann Brechtel (Lyn), her grandchildren, Nicole, Virginia, Katie, Cassi and Chelsea and her great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Ryan and Alex.

The family would like to thank the staff at Seasons Hospice for the care they provided to Betty during the past two years, as well as her home health aide Ashley Nasatka for the compassionate and dignified care she provided helping Betty to continue to enjoy the last several months.

Friends may call on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 from 6-8 pm at the MCCRERY & HARRA FUNERAL HOME, 3924 Concord Pike, (Rt. 202 South of Silverside Road) Wilm., DE 19803. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, March 5th at Mt. Lebanon U.M. Church, 850 Mt. Lebanon Road, Wilm., DE 19803. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
