Chester J. Leonowich, age 92, of Wilmington DE, formerly of Philadelphia, PA and Springfield, PA died peacefully on November 23, 2012.
Mr. Leonowich graduated from Drexel University with a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was the Founder of the Drexel University Chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.He worked as a Purchasing Agent for Westinghouse Electric in Lester, PA for 45 years.
He proudly served on a destroyer in the US Navy
during WWll and was a member of the Torpedoman's Assn. Later, he served as a District Commissioner of the Boy Scouts of America and was a volunteer at Hagley Museum.
Chester was devoted to his family. His mechanical skills were evident in all his projects in and around the home. He was an avid golfer and was very proud of his Rock Manor hole-in-one. Chester enjoyed traveling and had fond memories of family camping trips. In later years, he enjoyed spending winters in Stuart, FL with his wife Florence. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality and his sense of humor.
Mr. Leonowich is predeceased by his loving wife Florence, his son Bruce and his brother Henry. He is survived by his daughter Joyce (John) Strojny of Hockessin; his son John (Maria) Leonowich of Wilmington; grandchildren Brian Strojny, Steven (Jessica) Strojny, Jeffrey Strojny, Kevin Leonowich and Kristin (Doug) Farmer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at the Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Rd. on Friday, Nov. 30 at 11 am where friends may visit beginning at 10 am. Interment will follow in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield PA.
