AGE: 83 • Newark

David A. Carroll, age 83, of Newark, Delaware passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, August 3, 2014. David was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served our country in the Korean War. He was a crew member of the RB-36H Peacemaker. David was a graduate of St. Thomas College, earning his degree in Pre-Medicine. David began his career as a research chemist at Archer Daniels Midland Company. He spent the majority of his career working as an Account Manager for Henkel Company.

Dave had a variety of interests throughout his life. He spent a great deal of time traveling the world photographing wildlife and nature. Dave was an avid reader who enjoyed leisure books as well as satisfying his thirst for knowledge. He had a keen interest in the Spanish culture, photography, as well as cooking. Dave enjoyed hiking, tennis and swimming. He was a member of the U.S. Masters Swimmers and St. John the Baptist - Holy Angels Parish.

The most important part of Dave's life was his beloved family. Dave will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Mary McBride Carroll; his children, Madelena Gootee (Lee), Michael Carroll (Bopin), Colleen Carroll, Catherine Herbert (Brad), Margaret Cashion (Steve), Maureen Watson (Malcolm), Cecilia Chopko (Tim) and Maria Mitchell (Bradley). Dave was blessed with 11 wonderful grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church, Main and Chapel Streets, Newark, Delaware on Friday, August 8, at 10:00AM.
