82, beloved husband for 59 years of Joan Stevens, died at Shell Point Hospice, Ft. Myers, Florida, on Wednesday, October 9, 2013. A resident of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware since 1992, he previously lived in Rockville, Maryland, and was born on Long Island, New York.
Mr. Stevens was a 1953 Economics graduate from Rutgers College, where he was awarded All-American Honors in lacrosse. He was also a member of Beta Theta Pi and Scarlet Key. He received an MBA from Hofstra. After serving as a USAF officer during the Korean War
in SAC operations, he joined the Continental Group in New York City on the Corporate Industrial Relations staff. He had a career with the American Bankers Association in Washington, DC, rising to Executive Director.
Mr. Stevens retired from Drake Beam Morin in New York City as Executive Vice President of International Operations. He was a member of the Rotary Club
of Washington, DC, and of the Columbia Country Club. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Rehoboth Beach Country Club and the International Club of Washington, DC. Mr. Stevens served on the boards of the Columbia Lighthouse of the Blind, AOCFI, and the American National Standards Institute.
He is survived by his wife, Joan, and son, Brian Stevens of California, and daughters, Lynne Stevens and Eileen Spencer, wife of Richard Spencer of Maryland, as well as three grandchildren, Reid, Connor, and Mary Farrell, of Kensington, Maryland, his brother, Gary, and his wife Maryann, and their three children, Pamela, David, and Melissa of Springfield, Virginia, and his brother Paul, and his wife, Victoria, of Garden City, New York.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11AM Saturday October 19th at Saint Edmond's Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Avenue at Laurel Street, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
