Edward F. Yeatman Sr.(1945 - 2014)

Edward F. Yeatman, Sr.

AGE: 68 • Wilmington

On Tuesday, January 21, 2014, Edward F. Yeatman, Sr., after being our guardian angel here on Earth for 68 years, became our guardian angel in heaven for eternity. He joins his parents, John and Mary Yeatman and his four siblings, John, William and Thomas Yeatman, and Florence Cornell.

Ed grew up on Lancaster Avenue in Wilmington and attended St. Hedwig's Grade School. He furthered his education at H. Fletcher Brown School, where he concentrated in the electrical trade. Ed was a member of I.B.E.W. Local #313 and retired in 2005 as a journeyman electrician.

Ed played softball for many years with the Sunday Only League, sponsored by New Castle County, and continued to play with his sons well into his fifties. He also enjoyed playing on several pool leagues with his brothers in the Wilmington area. One of his favorite pastimes was building jigsaw puzzles with his grandson and spending time with his granddaughters. Ed was very grateful to have had good health this past September, which allowed him to vacation with his family at his favorite place, Las Vegas.

Ed will be forever missed by his best friend and mother of his children, Barbara Hackendorn Yeatman; his daughter, Jenny Groome (Paul); his sons, Ed Yeatman, Jr. (Amy) and J.C. Yeatman (Jody); and his eight grandchildren, P.J., Heather and Melissa Groome, and Emily, Kayla, Olivia, Brooke and Vanessa Yeatman.

The family would like to thank Dr. J. Meslah and the staff of the Helen Graham Cancer Center for the compassionate care given to Ed.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Monday, January 27 from 5:00-7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church, 10 Old Church Road, Greenville on Tuesday, January 28 at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ed may be made to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.
