Evangelia Stathopoulos, age 65, died on May 5, 2013, Easter Sunday in the Christian Orthodox Faith.
Evangelia was born in Kalamata, Greece, and moved to Athens where she lived until she was 21 when she immigrated to the U.S. Along with her husband George, Evangelia operated Silview Pizza in Newport for over 25 years. Evangelia's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family.
Evangelia was preceded in death by her parents, Panagiotis and Nicoleta Gianopoulos; and brother, Demetrios Gianopoulos. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, George; 2 daughters, Kathy Kehagias (John) and Peggy Saxton (Lee); 4 grandchildren, John, George, Lia, and Tiffany.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 9th from 10-11 am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 808 N. Broom St., Wilmington, DE 19806. Funeral service will be held at 11 am. Entombment will take place at All Saints Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Tzakis, Dr. Kehagias, Dr. Lewiski, Dr. Moutsatos, and Dr. Gilibert and their staffs for their exceptional care as well as the anonymous organ donor who gave Evangelia 17 more years of life.
