George W. Rein

AGE: 86 • Wilmington

George W. Rein, formerly of Holly Hill and Rehoboth Beach, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at the Methodist Country House, Greenville.

Mr. Rein was born in Wilmington to the late George and Alvina Rein and graduated from Brown Vocational School and Spring Garden College in Philadelphia. George was a Navy veteran of WW II and the Korean War. Following WW II he married the former Helen S. Arty of Nanticoke, PA, in 1948. A Senior Specialist Estimator with the E.I. DuPont Company Engineering Department, George retired in 1986 after 30 years. Mr. Rein was a life member of Oriental Lodge 27 AF&AM, a member of the Scottish Rite Delaware Consistory, a Charter member of Nur Temple Shrine AAONMS and Past Commander and life member of Nur Temple Legion of Honor; and a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. George was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan and he enjoyed surf fishing along the Atlantic coast, gardening and traveling, especially to Aruba.

George's wife of 35 years, Helen A. Rein, died in 1984; he is survived by his daughter Janet McMahon and her husband Michael of Newark; granddaughter, Barbara Vogel (David) of Elkton, MD; grandson, Kevin McMahon (Allison) of Newark, DE and their children; and several nieces and nephews.

George's daughter would like to thank the staff at the Methodist Country House Health Center for all the love and care they gave her father.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday November 26 at 11am, at the Chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. Dupont Hwy, New Castle, DE, where friends may call after 10am. A masonic service will be held at 10:45am. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
