Giacomo A. Lewis "Jack"

Age 82, of Wilmington, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013 surrounded by his family at his daughters home in Cecilton, MD.

Jack was the son of the late Anthony and Mary Lewis. He served in the Navy on the USS Leo during 1948-1952 including the Korean War. Jack made his career as a plumber and retired from Christiana Care Hospital after 20 years, in 1995.

A devout Catholic, he was a member of Holy Spirit R.C. church in New Castle. Jack enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, fishing, camping and gardening. He was also an avid Jets and Yankees fan. In his free time he volunteered at the Food Closet at Union United Methodist Church

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara "Carrie" Lewis (Matoni), brother, Anthony Lewis, sister, Patricia Walker and a stepson, Robert "Bobby" Schafferman, Jr.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Janice Lewis and his sister Jeannie Capaldi, his daughters Rosemary Mellott, Clara Tucker (Mike), Jacqueline Sharp (John) and Annette Wingate; Stepchildren, Karl Schafferman (Marion), Richard "Porky" Schafferman (Melissa) and Margie Allen (David); 19 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 24, from 6- 8 pm at the MCCRERY & HARRA FUNERAL HOME, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilm., DE 19808. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on June 25 at 11 am at Holy Spirit R.C. Church, 12 Winder Road, Garfield Park, New Castle, DE 19720. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery, 2400 Lancaster Ave., Wilmington, DE.
