Harriett Kennedy, 75 of Wilmington, Delaware, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 24, 2013.
Harriett was born in Wilmington on May 17, 1937, daughter of the late Robert and Emma (Orth) Strecker. A loving and devoted homemaker, she was a life member of the Elsmere Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed bingo and playing the penny slots at Delaware Park.
Harriett is survived by her husband of 56 years, Phillip A. Kennedy, Sr.; her children, Phillip, Jr., Paula Wilson (Alan), Patti Still (Harry), Pamela Giles (David), Patrick (Stacey), John (Dori), Annmarie Cuomo (Jimmy) and Joe; her sister, Phyllis Johnson; 21 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her granddaughters, Amanda Giles, Angel Garrett and Erin Giles; her great grandson, Wesley Aaron; 5 sisters; and 3 brothers.
The family would like to thank the staff of Vitas Hospice, especially Betty and Rainee, for the care and respect given to Harriett.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Monday, April 1 from 10:30AM - 12:00PM. Funeral services will begin at 12:00PM. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
