Herbert C. Miller
Age 87, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully, on April 8, 2013 at Shipley Manor.
Herbert was born in Pittsburgh, PA on December 14, 1925. He was the son of the late Herbert, Sr. and Alma Miller. After serving in the United States Navy
aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Hornet, he attended and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh. His career with the DuPont Company in Chemical Sales spanned 37 years. He worked in various DuPont Company locations, including Wilmington DE, Charlotte NC, Greenville SC and New York City. His work included travel throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. He was a member of the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists. After his retirement, Herb and his wife, Carolyn traveled extensively around Europe and enjoyed several trips on the QEII. Herb was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed travel, music and discussing politics. His greatest moments in life were spent with his family.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Herbert is survived by his wife of 66 years, Carolyn A. Miller; his children, Creighton H. Miller (Carolyn) of Nashville TN, Ruth A. Driscoll (Stephen) of Glens Falls NY, Randall R. Miller (Peggy) of Newark DE and Susan C. Heffner (George) of Orwigsburg PA; his grandchildren, Kevin(Katherine), Colin, Brittany, Kaitlyn, Danielle, Kristina and Emily; and his great-grandsons, Kellen, Nathan and Trevor.
A memorial service to celebrate Herbert's life will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. at Shipley Manor, 2723 Shipley Road, Wilm., DE 19810. Burial will be private.
