Irene W. Schumann
Irene W. Schumann, age 88 of Wilmington, DE passed away on Monday, July 15, 2013, at Heartland Hospice House in Wilmington Delaware.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Ottie, Earl, Howard, Harry Gatress, Willie, Arthur, Thurmond, Opie and Ralph and her sister Nina Comstock and half sister Mildred Wood.
Soon after graduating from Sparrows Point High School in 1943, Irene took a secretarial position in the Engineering Department of Bethlehem Steel in Sparrows Point, MD. It was there in the drafting room that she soon met a mechanical designer who would later become her future husband. After lighting up many of the USO dance halls, Irene quickly filled her dance card and married July 21, 1946 where she took upon one of her most important roles of her life time where she faithfully and diligently created a home for her husband and soon to be expanding family. Irene was the perfect example of yesteryears homemaker when we think of that era. She ensured a tip top home, balanced home cook meals and all the love and guidance a mother could provide to all of her children. Irene soon enjoyed travelling the world with her husband upon retirement to far reaching destinations such as China, many European countries, Pacific Islands and several memorable cruises. Later, she found great purpose and meaning in becoming a caring and devoted grandmother who's wisdom and unconditional love will remain in great abundance long after her departure.
She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years of marraige, Frederick C. Schumann and her son, Ronald C. Schumann. Irene is survived by her children; Robert G. Schumann and his wife, Ning of Hockessin, DE, Richard J. Schumann and his wife, Teresa of Hockessin, DE and Patricia S.
