Jackie E. Cooper
Jackie, age 66 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Jackie was born on November 7, 1946 in Bethany Beach, DE to the late Elwood and Mildred Cooper. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War
and was a graduate of Georgia Tech University.
In early adulthood, Jackie designed and maintained poultry processing equipment for GamCo. His work as a poultry processing engineer afforded him the opportunity to travel across the United States and even to Denmark. When Jackie was blessed with the start of his family, his career shifted to automotive sales. He spent over 21 years managing the used car sales division for the Winner Automotive Group.
Jackie was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Whether going out dancing with his wife, or supporting his children in school and sports as they grew up, he always found time to spend with his family. Jackie had an immeasurable adoration for his grandchildren as he was affectionately known as "Pop-Pop". Jackie made friends wherever he went and his personality and charm could light up the room. He will be missed by many who loved him dearly.
Jackie leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Cheryl; his son, Travis (Jennifer); daughter Jaclyn (Matthew); and his two grandchildren, Travis Jr. and Bella. He is also survived by his brother, Gary (Sandy).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 11am. Friends may visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek from 9-10:15am.
