AGE: 85 • Millsboro, DE

James Godwin, formerly of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 1, 2014.

He is the son of the late Edward and Mildred(Truitt) Godwin and is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Helen (Grant) Godwin; 3 children, Linda Welsh(Don), Beverly Jamison(Edward) and Larry Godwin(Joey); 8 grandchildren, 1 step-grandson, 13 great grandchildren, 3 step-great grandson; 2 brothers, David (Joyce) and Gregg (Norma) Godwin; a sister-in-law, Grace Ludwig and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jim attended William Penn HS and Brown Vocational and had a successful career in the fuel oil industry for over 40 years. He was a member of St. John's Lodge and several antique automobile clubs, including Delaware T's, where he served as president. Jim was an avid gardener, hunter and fisherman.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, January 5 from 4:30-6:30pm, at the MCCRERY & HARRA FUNERAL HOMES, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy(at Duncan RD)Wilmington, where a Masonic service will be held at 7pm with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
