"Buddy Grande"


James Gormley Vandegrift, Jimmy, age 18 of Hockessin, came into this world as a child of God and was called home on November 1, 2012. His spirit will live within us forever.

He will be remembered as an extraordinarily kind, thoughtful, giving soul who was always willing to help anyone in need. He will be extremely missed by his family and vast circle of close friends. Jimmy was a senior at A.I. DuPont HS and enrolled at Del Tech for welding. Jimmy most enjoyed skateboarding, BMX, Motorcross, fishing and his prized truck "Elizabeth".

Jimmy was predeceased in death by his father, James L. Vandegrift. Survivors include his mother, Maria, brother, Tom and sister, Rosie Vandegrift; grandparents, Rosemarie and Andy Ercole, Dominick and Pat Romano, Ken Vandegrift and Ann Vandegrift. He is also survived by many loving and devoted aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be dearly missed by his loyal and faithful dog "Chief".

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, November 7, from 6 to 9 pm at Mealey Funeral Home on 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 8, at St. Mary's of the Assumption in Hockessin, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin at 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jimmy may be sent to the Delaware SPCA, PO Box 6067, Stanton, DE 19804.
