Jane A. Brainard
Jane A. (Golt) Brainard, 82 of New Castle, DE, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, January 2, 2013.
Mrs. Brainard was born in Salem, NJ on January 4, 1930, daughter of the late James and Gladys (Lane) Golt. A devout Catholic, she was a proud member of the BVM Sodality at both St. Peter the Apostle and Holy Spirit Parishes. She was a devoted homemaker and the number one fan at the sporting events of her beloved children and grandchildren. She was also an avid Phillies baseball fan.
Her husband of 54 years, John F. Brainard, Jr., passed away on October 2, 2002. She was also predeceased by her grandson, Anthony John Reno.
Mrs. Brainard will be dearly missed by her sons and their wives, Michael and Linda Brainard, John and Linda Brainard, Thomas and Faithlynn Brainard and Edward and Rose Brainard; her daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Louis Reno, Theresa Brainard and Jane and Paul Oakes; her 16 grandchildren, Michael, Matthew and Shannon Brainard, Louis and Christine Reno, Craig Fincken, John and Jimmy Brainard, Alecia and Brian Giroud, Jillian and Thomas "TJ" Brainard, Corinne and Paul Oakes and Candee and Eddie Brainard; and her 16 great grandchildren; She will also be missed by Gerri Brainard and Sandra Brainard Fusto.
The family would like to thank the staff of Regency Health Care Center for the kindness, care and compassion given to Jane.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Thursday, January 10 from 4:00 - 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Resurrection Parish, 3000 Videre Drive, Skyline Ridge, Wilmington on Friday, January 11 at 9:15AM. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mrs. Brainard may be made to Regency Health Care Center, Attn: Activities Program, 801 N. Broom St., Wilmington, DE 19806.
