Jeanne (Rousseau) Steyermark died in Wilmington on Sunday, April 7, 2013. She was born in St. Eustache, Québec to J. Arthur Rousseau and Antoinette (Duquette) Rousseau. She attended a Catholic School in St. Eustache and a business college in Montréal. At the time she married Paul Steyermark in 1958, she was the vice-president of a finance company in Montréal.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her step-mother, Marie (Brunette) Rousseau as well as her sister, Denise Kéroack and her brother, Michel Rousseau.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Paul Steyermark, her son, Alexander Steyermark and his wife Amy Briamonte and son Jobim Steyermark, by her daughter Anne Steyermark Austin with her daughters Cameron and Cailin Austin, by her sister Odette Rousseau and by her nieces, Jocèlyne, Michele and Danielle Kéroack.
Jeanne was for many years a member of the Church of the Holy Child, where she had volunteered in many activities, including the school of religion, driving elderly parishioners to medical appointments and social activities and distributing Holy Communion to the residents of Shipley Manor.
Jeanne was an accomplished artist. In her younger days, she painted on porcelain. Later she drew pastels and made batiks. Finally, she produced enamels on copper. She enjoyed for many years classes at the Academy of Lifelong Learning and was a member of The Occidentals.
She will be dearly missed by her loving family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Road on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery. There will be no viewing.
