Jesse James Allen
Jesse James Allen, 73 of Quarryville, PA formerly of Avondale, went home to be with the Lord on December 3, 2012. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He courageously battled cancer for 7½ years.
He was an inspiration to all those who knew him and was especially a blessing to his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Nancy; his 3 daughters, Sandy Allen, Belinda Allen and Elizabeth Cutone and her husband, Michael. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Sarah Campbell and her husband Jason, Eric Wagner, Derek Wagner, Kevin Wagner and Bradley Wagner. He took great enjoyment in his great grandchildren, Brianna and Alex. To them, he was simply the best "Pop Pop".
Jesse was born on November 5, 1939 in Creston, North Carolina to the late Ted and Leatha Allen. He was predeceased by a brother, Sydney Allen and sisters, Shirley Allen and Mae Blevins. He is also survived by his brothers, Avery Allen and his wife Grace, Claude Allen and his wife Bonnie, Eddie Allen and his wife Nancy and a sister, Maxine Price and her husband Clalley. Jesse retired from General Motors in 1987 after 31 years of service. He enjoyed being outside and spending time with his family and friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make others laugh. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Hospice and Community Care of Lancaster County and especially the "Purple Team" for all of their care and support during these difficult months. We would also like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Lancaster General Health Campus who treated Jesse over the last several years.
A viewing will be held at the Edward L. Collins Jr. Funeral Home in Oxford, PA on Friday, December 7, from 6-8 pm. Services will be at 2 pm on Saturday, December 8. Interment will follow immediately after the services at the Nottingham Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either Hospice and Community Care of Lancaster County (www.hospiceandcommunitycare.org) or Lancaster General Health Cancer Center Campaign (www.LGhealthCancerCampaign.org)

I am very sorry for your loss. I only met Jesse a couple times (Brianna's birthday parties), but he was always very nice. It was obvious that Sarah & Brianna really loved him, and I'm so sorry that he won't get to see Brianna & Alex grow up. Again, my condolences, and you are in my thoughts.
