John Rice Kingham
John Rice Kingham "Jack", age 82 of Wilmington died peacefully on Tuesday September 10, 2013 while at Seasons Hospice in Christiana Hospital. The family would like to acknowledge the outstanding care and compassion Jack received during his time at Wilmington Hospital, Forwood Manor, and Seasons Hospice.
Jack was a graduate of Verona High School in Verona, NJ Class of '49 and Lehigh University, Class of '53. Jack was a gifted athlete, named as a New Jersey All-State soccer player during his high school years, and as a college All-American soccer player while at Lehigh University. Jack and his twin brother, Jim, were well regarded as a potent scoring duo during their soccer career. During and after college Jack served his country in the service of the United States Navy
. Following his service in the U.S. Navy, Jack enjoyed a successful career as a sales executive with Bell Atlantic and AT&T. Throughout his life Jack established enduring friendships wherever he lived; New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York City, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Florida, and finally Delaware. Jack was an avid reader and fisherman. He enjoyed memberships with the Sons of the American Revolution and American Society of Mayflower Descendants.
Jack is predeceased by his beloved daughter, Lesley Kingham. He will be deeply missed by his sons, Jeffrey Kingham of Santa Barbara, CA, Brewster Kingham of Wilmington, DE, and Curtis Kingham of Delray Beach, FL. "Pop-Pop" felt blessed to spend much time with his grandchildren, Anna, Jack, Lucy, Hayze, and Sawyer.
A celebration of Jack's life will be held from 12:00 - 4 PM on Sunday September 22, 2013 at Timothy's Riverfront Grill, Wilmington Hall, 930 Justison St., Wilmington. Friends of Jack and his family are welcome to visit during this time. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the National MS Society, Delaware Chapter, 2 Mill Road, Suite 106, Wilmington, DE 19806.
