John Shure, Sr.

John D. Shure, Sr., 81, of New Castle, parted this life peacefully on November 29, 2012 surrounded by his family.

Mr. Shure worked for Diebold for 25 years. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving on the aircraft carrier USS Lake Champlain. He was a lifetime member of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) Brandywine Region where he also served as a senior master judge.

Mr. Shure and his family have been members of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church for 40 years.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Compassionate Care Hospice of St. Francis Hospital for their care.

Mr. Shure is survived by his wife of 43 years, Phyllis W. Shure; his daughter, Joy Shure Andrews and her husband, Jim; his son, John D. Shure, Jr. and his wife, Faith and three grandchildren, Alexis, Savanah and Justin.

Friends may call at Hope Lutheran Church, 230 Christiana Road, New Castle, DE 19720 on Monday morning, December 3, 2012 from 9:00am-10:15am. A Committal Service will be at 11:00am. Monday at the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701. Immediately following the committal service, everyone is invited back to the church at the above address for a Celebration of Life Service at 1:00pm and a luncheon reception to follow.
