Joseph Anthony Mancuso
AGE: 82 • Newark
Passed away at his home on Feb. 3, 2014. Born in Philadelphia, PA on December 23, 1931, Joe was the son of the late Salvatore and Anna Coppola Mancuso.
He was a 1949 graduate of LaSalle High School and attended LaSalle College for 2 years before joining the U.S. Navy
. Joe served 4 years in the Navy at sea and as a hospital corpsman. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he worked as a letter carrier. He was a proud and active member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. He was also a 4th degree Knight of Columbus and member of Archbishop Fitzmaurice Assembly. He loved music, especially Big Band and Jazz, toy train collecting, was a member of the Train Collectors Association and was a train and railway enthusiast. He enjoyed good food and friends and was devoted to his family.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 57 years, Frances Janene Harless Mancuso; 2 sons, Joseph Mancuso (Janice) of Custer Park IL, Thomas Mancuso (Wendy) of Milford PA; 3 daughters, Clare Fullerton (Robert) of Newtown Square PA, Carol Nichols (Peter) of Hobart Tasmania and Catherine Trexler (Brooke) of Downingtown PA; 7 grandchildren, Sarah and Evan Trexler, Kyle Fullerton, Lauren and Rebecca Nichols, and Tyler and Alyssa Mancuso; and a sister Antoinette Mancuso of Secane, PA. He was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Mancuso and his sister Concetta Mancuso.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 82 Possum Park Road, Newark, DE 19711 on Wednesday February 12, 2014 at 11:00 am with a visitation at the church beginning at 10 am. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon PA at 1:30 pm Memorial contributions may be made to LaSalle College High School and mailed to R.T.
