Louis A. Papili, Sr.

Louis A. Papili, Sr., 81 of Wilmington, DE, passed away at his home on Monday, December 17, 2012.

Lou was born in Wilmington on April 23, 1931, son of the late Serafino and Maria (Petrucci) Papili. A graduate of Brown Vocational High School, he was a long time member of I.B.E.W. Local Union 654 and worked as an electrician for 44 years, retiring in 1993. Lou was a life time, dedicated member of St. Elizabeth's Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, and volunteered his time and talent in various capacities in the parish. He took great pride in his home and avidly enjoyed working in his garden. He also enjoyed bowling in past years. Lou's greatest devotion was to his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.

Lou will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 55 years, Julia "Dolly" (Tavani) Papili; his children, Louis A., Jr. and his wife, Mary Ellen, Marie "Sis" Corrigan and her husband, Barry, Joseph A. and his wife, Mary Ann, Mark A. and Paul A. and his wife, Jodi; and his grandchildren, Matthew, Brittany, Nicholas, Caitlin, Paulina, Victoria, Luke, Julie, Laura, PJ, Annie and Elise. He is also survived by his brothers, Leo and his wife, Peggy and John and his wife, Betty; his nieces and nephews; and his granddogs, Nico, Gunnar, Sadie, Cookie and Millie.

Lou was predeceased by his sister, Elsie; and his brothers, Dominic, Alfred and Olimpio "Pip".

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Thursday, December 20 from 5:00 - 8:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth's Church, Cedar and Clayton Streets, Wilmington on Friday, December 21 at 12 noon. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lou may be made to St. Elizabeth's Church, 809 S. Broom Street, Wilmington, DE 19805.
