Marie R. Cannuli
On Saturday, December 29, 2012, Marie Rose Cannuli entered peacefully the gates of Heaven to her Eternal Life.
Cherished and beloved wife of James J. Cannuli for 62 years, she was the light of his life. Marie was born on February 17, 1924 to the late Michael and Philomena (Fidelibus) Casterioto in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She graduated from South Philadelphia High School and worked for the federal government during World War II. Marie dedicated her life to providing a happy home for her family, and she had a heart of gold. She enjoyed many activities through the years, including baking, bowling, gardening, cards, crafts and trips to various Broadway shows.
Marie was a longtime member of St. John's - Holy Angels Parish. She taught CCD for several years at Holy Angels, as she enjoyed teaching the small children.
In addition to her loving husband, Marie is survived by her three children, James Cannuli (Virginia), Diane Simmons (Robert) and Jayne Fernandes (Don Iddings); her five grandchildren, who provided her with love, laughter and companionship, Holly Simmons, Michael Simmons (Carrie), James Cannuli II, Lindsay Fernandes and Christopher Fernandes; and her great grandson, Colin.
She is also survived by her loving sister, Carol Sicura; and many nieces and nephews. She had many dear friends over the years that treasured her friendship and love.
Special thanks to the caring staff of Vitas Hospice, Regal Heights and Christiana Hospital.
