Mary Duggan

Age 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at her home in Palm Harbor, FL. She fought breast cancer for over 25 years.

Mary was an elementary school teacher in Newark, DE. Born Mary Ann DePaul in Berwick, PA, she put herself through Bloomsburg University in PA and received a BA degree in education. She married Bill Duggan, also of Berwick, and the couple moved to Newark, DE. They had one daughter, Maryann. Mary taught second grade for the Christina school district at Medill and Wilson elementary schools. She truly cared about her students and was well respected for her skills as a teacher. She made many long lasting friends in Delaware. In 1995, she moved to Palm Harbor, FL to be closer to her grandchildren. Mary loved being actively involved with her grandchildren. She was a devout Catholic.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Joseph Duggan in 1992, and survived by her daughter Maryann Smith, son-in-law Michael Smith and grandchildren Kevin, Annika and Ryan Smith.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary's name to the Florida Cancer Specialist Foundation, 4371 Veronica Shoemaker Blvd., Fort Meyers, Florida 33916.
