Matthew Michael Petke, age 39, and his wife Brenda Lee Petke, age 45, of Wilmington DE, died suddenly together Sunday November 18, 2012 as a result of an automobile accident.
Born in Wilmington DE, Matthew was a son of Brenda Vaughan Boucher and Josh Boucher of Wilmington, DE and Kenneth Petke. Brenda was born in Prince George's County MD. Brenda & Matt met in Ridgley MD where they both attended the Benedictine School. They married in 2001. Together they became ambassadors for the Delaware People First Program. They worked in the support services division of Bank of America, formerly MBNA. They were faithful members of Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church where they attended and later taught church school. They enjoyed fundraising activities for SOAR, Survivors Of Abusive In Recovery, vacationing at the DE beaches, fishing, and all dogs especially their K-9 Partners Service dog Rennie who passed this year. Their second Service Dog "Connor" was from Amazing Tails. Their dogs were their children.
Survivors include in addition to Matthew's parents, Matthew's brother David McElvain and his wife Jessica of Wilmington DE, and many close friends who will miss them dearly.
You are invited to visit with Matthew and Brenda's family from 1-3 PM Saturday December 1, 2012 at Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church 101 Old Kennett Road Wilmington, DE 19807. Their memorial service will follow at 3 PM. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
