Michael J. McCabe, Sr.

Michael J. McCabe, Sr., 61, of Wilmington, DE., passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on March 13, 2014 at Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. Michael was born in 1952 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was a graduate of Archmere Academy, where he was the State Long Jump Champion and excelled in baseball, basketball and track.

Mike continued his studies at the University of Delaware, and then received his MBA at Wilmington University. He served honorably as a First Lieutenant in the Marine Corps. He worked at QAD, Inc. as a Software Consultant for over 15 years, and he was recently employed at Valeant Pharmaceuticals for the past two years through Patel Consultants. Mike was a loving father, husband, son, brother and uncle, who enjoyed spending time with his children, family and friends. He was an avid runner and reader, enjoyed golf and Bible study.

Mike was predeceased by his father, Jay McCabe and his stepfather, Hank Graybill. He is survived by his mother, Teresita McCabe Graybill; loving children, Caroline S. McCabe and Michael J. McCabe, Jr. and their mother, Marianne T. McCabe; brother, Pat McCabe and his wife, Linda, sister, Cathy Cochran; sisters-in-law, Dr. Patricia Bomba (John Mikulsky), Connie Cooper, Sophie Osborne (Richard), Terry Taptich (Frank); John Cooper and Andy Kesselring; nieces, Cristina Cochran, Sarah McCabe and Rachel McCabe, Angel Cooper Hansen, Candice Cooper Holbert, Dr. Stephanie Huston, Natalie Feild and Amanda Kesselring; nephews, Nicholas Cochran, Daniel McCabe, John Cooper, III, John Sebastian Mikulsky, Michael Taptich, Tony Taptich and Christopher Taptich; grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.

Friends may visit with the family on Monday, March 17 from 6-8PM at the Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, March 18 at 11AM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.
