Miriam L. Brenner
Age 86, of Newark, DE, passed away November 26, 2013. She was born in Stormstown, PA on January 3, 1927, the daughter of the late Paul and Nellie Tomco.
Miriam left home at the age of 17, to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse and graduated from the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. During that same year, she met and married her late husband, Alexander A. Brenner. She worked many years for the Medical Center of Delaware, including the Memorial Hospital and Wilmington General Division. She also served as a member of the Special Honor Roll of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps.
In addition to her parents and husband, Miriam was preceded in death by her siblings, Imogene, Marjorie, Glen, Norma, JoAnn, and Donald. She is survived by her two daughters and their spouses, Robert and Lois Stewart of Newark, DE, Carol Landau of Bear, DE, and Gary Landau of Landenberg, PA; three grandchildren, Eric Stewart and his wife Melonie of Newark, DE, Lori Woods and her husband Sam of Denton, MD and Lisa Day of Bear, DE and six great-grandchildren, Jake, Ethan, Ryan, Liam, Anna, and Cora. Miriam is also survived by her bother; Paul Tomco and sisters; Ilene Schultz and Kay Little, all of Bellefonte, PA.
Funeral Services will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 4th at 12:00 pm at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Hwy., Newark, DE, where family and friends may visit from 11:00 to 12:00 pm. Burial will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in memory of Miriam to the family church, Fillmore United Methodist Church, 2262 Buffalo Run Rd, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
