"Patsy"

Patricia Maryann (Tomczyk) Cael, 72 of Newark, DE, passed away suddenly at her home on Tuesday, January 15, 2013.

Born in Wilmington, DE on February 12, 1940, Patsy was a graduate of Wilmington High School Class of 1958. After graduation, Patsy worked for Bell Atlantic Phone Company, then as a bookkeeper for Harvey Refrigeration before moving to Newark in 1969, where she resided until her passing.

Patsy was a devoted mother, wife and homemaker who enjoyed traveling the world. She spent summers by the pool with her family, going to the beach, flying and collecting unique items. Many knew "Mrs. Cael" as an avid Hummel collector.

Patsy cherished being a grandmother. Her family recently grew to include 2 great grandsons. Babchi will be missed dearly.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Q. Cael, Jr. and wife, Maryann and grandsons, Joseph III and Thomas of Middletown; her son Robert M. Cael of Newark; her daughter, Patricia C. Hill, Alex Harmon, Jr. and granddaughter, Danielle Hill of Fair Hill, MD; her daughter, Kathleen I. Hellstern, Max Hellstern, Jr. and great grandson, Preston John Hellstern of Newark; her granddaughters, Stephanie K. Hellstern of Wilmington and Christine Rich, husband, Caleb and great grandson, Talan of Dover; her grandson, Maxmillion Hellstern III of Newark; her sister, Fran Lazartic and husband, James; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Christine V. Bretertnitz; her parents, Edward and Frances (Milewski) Tomczyk; her sisters, Stella Tomczyk and Christine Wright; and her brothers, Edward, Terry and Larry Tomczyk.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Friday, January 18 from 5:00 - 7:00PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 19 at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
