Peggy Ender

Peggy Ender passed away on Saturday, February 23rd, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family and the tender care of Brandywine Senior Living.

Born in Shenandoah, PA on January 8th, 1919, Peggy came to Wilmington, DE in 1945. She married Charlie Ender in 1950 and they were happily married for 31 years. She is survived by her children David Ender and his wife Hollys Harloff-Ender of Atlanta, GA, and Sally Ender Rumer and her husband James Rumer of Kennett Square, PA. Peggy has three granddaughters Nicolette Ender and Lindsay and Jena Rumer.

Peggy attended Cedar Crest College at age 16. A lifelong dancer, she trained with Martha Graham, taught ballroom dance classes, and eventually opened two dance studios in Wilmington, which she ran for over 20 years. Teaching was Peggy's passion. In addition to teaching kindergarten at Tower Hill and opening a Charm School, she adored children and always knew how to bring a smile to their faces.

She was a member of the Pilot Club, AAUW, the Wilmington Drama League, Country Hills Garden Club and a lifelong member of the Federation of Garden Clubs. Peggy also attended the Center for Lifelong Learning for 15 years. She was a performer at heart and was always ready with a joke or a story. She spent many happy times with her longtime friends and family, enjoying summers at their beach house in Stone Harbor, spending time at the Hercules Country Club and entertaining in her home. Peggy danced her way through life and into the hearts of everyone she met.

A private service and burial will be held for the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the (alz.org) or the Kind to Kids Foundation of Wilmington (kindtokids.org).
