Poe-lim G. Chua, age 84, of Newark, formerly of Edina, MN died on July 7, 2014 at Foulk Manor South.
He received his M.D. from University of Santo Tomas in 1957. Poe-lim practiced for 5 years in internal medicine at Chinese General Hospital in the Philippines. He came to the US and began his internship at Mary Mount Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Poe-lim went on to his residency in anesthesiology at University of Minnesota. He continued his career working at Hennepin County Hospital, Fairview Riverside Hospital, Fairview Southdale Hospital and the VA Hospital until he retired in 2001 at the age of 72.
He is survived by his wife Estrella Dee Tang-Chua, M.D., daughter Carolina Chua Ong, son-in-law Andrew Chin Lee Ong, LL.B., grandsons Evan Ong, Kyle Ong, and Ryan Ong, daughter Cristina Chua Uy, D.D.S., son-in-law Romeo Uy, M.D., granddaughter Rachel Uy, grandsons Steven Uy and Nathaniel Uy, son Elias Chua, M.D., daughter-in-law Paula Hamorski Chua, CRNA, granddaughters Lauren Chua, Theresa Chua, and Alexandra Chua, and grandson Mark Chua.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday July 10, 2014 at 10:30am at St. Joseph's on the Brandywine Church, 10 Old Church Road, Greenville, DE 19807 where friends and family may call from 9:30am -10:30am. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
