Age 69, of Wilmington passed away peacefully on Friday, August 23, 2013 at the home of his daughter surrounded by his family. Bob was born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Martha (Winter) Carol and James Hargrove.
Bob served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps
and retired from the Wilmington Police Department after 20 years of service. The happiest years of his life were when he served on the Wilmington Mounted Patrol. After his retirement, he worked as the Chief of Police at the Wilmington VA Hospital and then as a bailiff at the Superior Court of Delaware. Bob was an active member of the Delaware Association of Police.
He will be missed by his daughters, Lou Ann and Brent Montgomery of Newark and Lori Jean and Rod Hoffman of Hockessin; his grandchildren, Jake, Trevor, Casey and Carly and his sister, Donna of Kansas City, MO.
A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held on Thursday, August, 29, 2013 at the Delaware Association of Police Hall at 6:30 PM. Bob wanted to be remembered with a party, not a wake, so come in your favorite Hawaiian shirt and bring your "Bob" stories to share. Food will be provided. Burial with military honors will take place at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Bear-Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701 on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 11 AM.
