He was born in Wilmington to the late, William and Elva T. Marvel. His concern for his clients and his expertise allowed him to enjoy an excellent reputation among his peers. He held a number of positions, including a successful partnership at Connor, Marvel, and Pierce in Centreville, DE. Bob learned the importance of serving others at a young age as a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he had perfect attendance at Sunday School until the age of 16.

in Delaware. With good friends Vic Murray and Don Bergner, they created and lead Delaware Special Olympics. He served as president and was a member of the board of directors for many years. Bob also found time to serve on the boards of the Leukemia Society of Delaware, Wilmington Sister Cities and Judi Marvel Charities, Inc., an organization started in honor of his late daughter-in-law.
Beyond his professional and civic interests, Bob was very devoted to his family and took his role as son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and uncle very seriously. His loyalty to the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies never waned. Always quick with a smile and a good joke, he was blessed with many good friendships.
