Ronald Steven Whitesel, age 45, of Warwick, MD, went home to be with the Lord he loved on Friday, October 18, 2013.

Ron proudly served his country in the US Air Force and DE National Guard until his medical discharge in 2009. He served in both Gulf Wars and was stationed at Randolph Air Force Base and Spangdahlem Air Force Base in Germany. Ron was a gentle giant who lived for others. He had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, his Savior, and that shaped every aspect of his life. Since his retirement Ron stayed busy with his many projects. He was an avid Phillies, Flyers, and Ravens fan. Ron especially enjoyed spending time with his little "Mini Me", Myles Steven.

Ron will be truly missed by his loving wife of 26 years, Deborah Whitesel; daughters, Brittany Whitesel Yoder and husband Ryan Edward Yoder, and Candace LaRue Whitesel; grandson, Myles Steven Yoder; mother, Vera Ann Whitesel; brothers, Charles Whitesel and wife Natalie, and Bruce Whitesel and wife Kimberly; aunt and uncle, Loretta and Gary Caufman; 4 nephews; and 2 nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Cecil Whitesel.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 5:30-7 PM in the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of Ron's life at 7 PM. Burial with full military honors will take place Friday, October 25, 2013 at the Delaware Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Bear, DE , at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Ron's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org or mailed to PO Box 758517, Topeka KS 66675. Please reference Sgt.
