Rose C. Moore
Rose Clare Moore, 94, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Meadows Manor North in Terre Haute, IN after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She moved to Indiana in 2001 after living over 40 years in Claymont, Delaware. She was born August 12, 1918, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to William G. and Anna M. Wright. Rose attended Chestnut Hill College and Temple University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1936. She taught high school science for several years before moving to Washington, D.C., to work in a government research lab during World War II. She returned to Philadelphia and married William (Bill) in 1950 and began a long career in the chemical industry before retiring from DuPont Textile Research Labs in 1983. She enjoyed volunteering in many ways, including working for the Christiana Hospital, Meals on Wheels, and several Outreach Programs of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Claymont. She was always willing to help those in need and instilled in her sons the importance of service to others. She and Bill enjoyed travelling and visited all 50 US states, all the Provinces and Territories in Canada, and many European countries.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Moore, a sister Helen M. Kuhn, as well as her parents.
Survivors include her sons, Daniel (Jennifer) Moore, of Terre Haute, Indiana, Patrick (Karen) Moore, of Jupiter, Florida; her grandchildren, Judith Moore, of Hammond, Indiana, Johanna (Andrew) Kruth,of Austin, Texas, Jessamyn Moore, of Bremen, Germany, Jacqueline Moore, of Fulton, Missouri, Danielle Howley-Moore, and Dylan Howley-Moore, both of Jupiter, Floriida, and several nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Wednesday, May 1 at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE. Burial will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE. Visitation will be in the church from 10 am until the time of the Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to
