Rose M. Howard

Rose M. (Battaglia) Howard passed away at Forwood Manor in Wilmington on March 12, 2014. She was the first daughter of seven girls and two boys born to the late Nicholas and Anna Shavack Battaglia. Rose celebrated one hundred years of a vibrant life on August 26, 2013. She and her husband, Charles L. Howard, shared almost fifty years of marriage prior to his death in 1980. They also shared a deep love for their only child, Ronald Mark Howard, who predeceased his mother in September 2012. Sadly, she was also predeceased by her two older brothers, Bruno Battaglia and James Battaglia and her sisters, Marion Reiner, Anne Dunkleberger, Edith Razze and Josephine Battaglia.

Always full of life and with an eye for fashion, Rose worked at Eckerd's Drug Store for many years and then at the former Fashion Shop. Many of her clients came to her for advice on what to wear or which cosmetics to select. Rose loved to travel with her sisters and friends whenever she could. As a member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, she enjoyed the Senior Center and the many friends she met there.

Rose is survived by her beloved grandsons, Jeff and Todd; her devoted sisters, Beatrice Hession and Delores Dougherty; loving daughter-in-law, Priscilla; great-grandsons, Luke and Jake; granddaughters-in-law, Kim and Courtney and many nieces and nephews.
