Capt. Russell Wiedenmann (Ret.)
Russ went to be with his Heavenly Father on April 16, 2014. He was a proud graduate of Conrad High School, Class of 1952. His first love was baseball and he was a lifelong Phillies fan. He played for Richardson Park Junior High and Concord High School. He was also a member of the 1950 Delaware American Legion Championship team.
He achieved his boyhood dream of being a Delaware State Trooper when he joined the DSP in 1956. Highlights of his career were being named Commander of the first Governor's Strike Force to fight drugs and being named Commander at Troop 6, Prices Corner.
Russ was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Margaret Wiedenman; brothers, Howard and Jim.
Russ is survived by his wife, Lisa; sons, Russell Keith (Shirlann) of Bear, Robert (Colleen) of Hockessin, Richard (Linda) of Newark; daughter, Karen Drake (Carson) of Bear; six grandchildren; a great grandson and his beloved furry four legged little girl, Callie.
Funeral Services will be celebrated on Friday, April 25th at 12:45 pm at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Hwy., Newark, DE where family and friends may visit from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
