Ryan Martin West

Mr. Ryan Martin West, age 28, of Newark, DE, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2012. Ryan was born in Wilmington, Delaware on January 7, 1984, and graduated from Jefferson High School.

Almost five years ago, Ryan experienced more love and pride than words could ever express when he set eyes on his daughter, Ryla Kae West, as she entered the world. Above all else, he was a devoted father. He embraced all moments in Ryla's life--going to doctor appointments, riding a bike, driving her toy car, playing in the park, watching a movie, and admiring her dancing.

"Remember me Baby Girl. While our time together was so short, please know that I will always be part of you and will live in your memory. My love for you will never die. Remember what I have always taught you. You can carry my love for you wherever you are, wherever you go."

In addition to his beloved daughter Ryla, he is survived by his parents, Barbara and Philip Collins of Newark; brother, Justin H. West of Newark; maternal grandmother, Josephine Kolasinski of New Castle; and nephews, Jayden West, Carter West, and Gavin West. He was preceded in death by his father, Gary H. West, maternal grandfather, Stanley "Jake" Kolasinski, and paternal grandfather, Floyd H. West.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, November 8th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, where visitation will begin at 9 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware, 413 Larch Circle, Wilmington DE 19804 (302-998-3577); or to the Salvation Army A.R.C. (Adult Rehabilitation Center Drug and Alcohol), 107 S. Market Street, Wilmington, DE 19801 (302-654-8808).
