Sharon A. Schaffer, age 61, of New Castle, Delaware passed away peacefully on Friday, March 21, 2014. Born on November 23, 1952 in Wilmington, DE., she was the daughter of the late Vaughn Thomas, Sr. and Beatrice Burk Thomas.

As an active member in her community, Sharon enjoyed being a member of the St. Anthony's Club, St. Gabriel's Lodge and Terrace Athletic Club, all in New Castle. She enjoyed spending her leisure time crocheting and reading and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the apples of her eye. Sharon will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and dear friend to many. She will be dearly missed by the many lives she touched.

Sharon leaves many fond memories to her beloved husband, Gary W. Schaffer, of 21 years; three children, Nicole Johnson (Danny) of Millsboro, DE., Dennis Kalinowski (Carmen) of Perryopolis, PA and Leighann Schaffer of Tampa, FL; two sisters, Sandi Murphy (Bob) and Madalynn Thomas, all of of New Castle, DE; five brothers, Allen Thomas (Lucy) of Millsboro, DE., Vaughn Thomas, Jr. (Ellen) of New Castle, DE., Clifton Thomas (Cheryl) of New Castle, DE, Richard Thomas (Carolyn) of Bear, DE and Walter Thomas (Theresa) of Rising Sun, MD; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Phyllis Delpizzo of Wilmington, DE; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, as well as by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends may visit with Sharon's family from 6-8pm on Friday evening, March 28, 2014 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday morning, March 29, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Gift of Life Donor Program, 401 North 3rd Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123.
