Susan (Ward) Panchak, 55, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, July 25, 2014 after a brave battle with brain cancer.

Sue was born and raised in North Wilmington and was a graduate of Brandywine High School (1977) and the University of Delaware (1981). She worked at Bush Early Education Center as a paraprofessional and technology coordinator for the last 17 years. Sue was a world traveler who most recently toured Europe and spent time relaxing on the tropical beaches of Punta Cana. She was a passionate photographer, expert gardener, Steelers fanatic, and fitness enthusiast—with her saying dedication, determination, motivation that will be remembered by all. Sue enjoyed gathering with her family and friends to share a good laugh and always went above and beyond for those she loved. She left a lasting impression on all the lives she touched.

Sue is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Adrian (Ace) Panchak; their two children Julie (Chris) Sharkey and Scott (Elli); her mother Rita Mahoney Ward; father Robert L. Ward; brothers Timothy (Terri), Stephen (Kim), Chris (Amy), Doug (Michelle); sisters Elizabeth Houck (Mike), Margaret Ward, Anne Mas (Paul); mother & father in-law John & Dorothy Panchak; brother-in-law, Robert Panchak (Paula); sister-in-law, Terry Sassaman (Paul), Fran Panchak and also many nieces, nephews, friends and co-workers. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Tim Panchak.

In celebration of Sue's life, a mass will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4701 Weldin Road, Wilmington Delaware 19803. In honoring Sue's memory, please wear colorful attire. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation, 248 E. Chestnut Hill Road Suite 4, Newark, DE 19713.
