Vernon H. Brown

Vernon H. Brown, age 97, passed away at home on November 14, 2012.

He was a World War II veteran who participated in the North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and Germany theaters of combat. Vernon retired from Catalytic Const. Co. at Getty Oil in 1983 as a General Forman of Millwrights. He was a 57 year member of the Hiram Lodge #25 AF & AM, and a member of the Delaware Consistory. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion, and the Elsmere Fire Company.

Vernon is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ann B. Brown, 2 children, daughter, Dolores Rhodes and husband William, son, John (Jeff) Brown and wife, Robin, 3 grandchildren, Christopher Brown and wife Andrea, Jesse Rhodes, and Nicholas Brown, 1 great granddaughter, Eleanor Brown, 1 surviving sister, Betty Brabson, 10 nieces and nephews, 13 great-nieces and nephews, and 10 great-great-nieces and nephews.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, and family.

Relatives and friends may visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek, on Monday, November 19 from 10 to 11:30 am. Services will immediately follow. Interment will be at the New Garden Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.
